Pasco Lefty is a blues power-trio that delivers a blend of classic and contemporary blues as well as original compositions. Influences from jazz, rock, soul, and funk combine with improvisation and lively audience engagement to create a vibrant show experience.
Pasco Lefty grew up in the alleys of Amsterdam. It is called the blues capital of Europe. Jamming with the locals best and part of the Dutch band BluesTime he developed his style before moving to FL, USA. There (in Pasco County) the Pasco Lefty band was shaped. Locals called me Pasco Lefty as I was the only left handed player around, I adopted and cherished the title! Pasco Lefty was originally a 6 piece band, but was also known for 3 piece and even solo performances. Loyal to the blues foundations, sound will be crafted from Gibson 335's and Stratocasters with the purity of tube amplification.
‘Keep the Beat’ is more than a mantra for Fred Gray. These words have defined the life of this talented percussionist throughout a near forty-year music career. Early in his career, this native Richmonder, enjoyed local and national tour dates with his successful band, ‘Capital Punishment’ , prominently opening for the acclaimed vocal keyboardist, Roy Ayers at the Mosque in Richmond, VA. Gray’s amiable personality, versatility, and passion as an artist has afforded him an abundance of opportunities, playing with a host of musical groups ranging from ‘Spectrum,’ ‘Standing Room Only Band and Show,’ ‘Baby Huey and the Baby Sitters,’ ‘The Fabulous Soul Cruisers;’ and Steve Bassett; opening for ‘Mother’s Finest,’ Keith Sweat, Nikki Howard, ‘The Dells,’ ‘The Delfonics,’ Jerry Butler, and ‘Brother to Brother.’ Retiring after a thirty-year career with Philip Morris, a now re-energized Gray is poised to once again share his talents with an array of music listeners in the RVA and cities beyond. He is currently playing with ‘Shades of Gray Band’ and ‘Pasco Lefty Trio’.
Pete grew up and began playing electric bass in Philadelphia, PA, before hitting the road and playing in bands in Chicago, Pittsburgh, Tulsa, Memphis, and finally Richmond. He started on keyboard and guitar before realizing that bass is where the fun and coolness happens (in his opinion). He enjoys and plays in numerous genres of music, and is currently in the bands “Mountain Road West” and “Pasco Lefty Trio.”
